This type of hysterectomy removes the uterus via the vagina with the aid of a dissection made via a laparoscope.
Those two surgical methods combine to reduce the delicate operating time that is spent at the uterus level and also reduces the time spent employing the vaginal dissection to extract the uterus and free the lower level uterus fastenings.
This technique enables if necessary:
- safer removal of the ovaries
- freeing up of abdominal adhesions
- Other surgical acts that not possible with vaginal hysterectomy alone (such as monitoring the ovaries, or the state of a patient’s endometriosis, or the removal of pelvic lymph node...)
